Somebody Jinxed It!!
Well I'm sure we all thought that this year was going to be a snowless Christmas and unfortunately the inevitable happened... 4 whole inches of the white stuff!!!! But I guess it's not all that bad because now we can all go caroling and sing "White Christmas" together and not feel like we're kidding ourselves.

The Christmas Season
Well this is Cameron... Mom has pretty much handed me and Heather the ropes for the blog, I'm not saying she isn't posting anymore, though I'm not saying she is going to post again in the near future because I honestly don't know. But she gave me and Heather rights to post on the blog and if we ever have anything to say we'll probably share it.
But let's get down to the nitty gritty, shall we? So December is here and for all of those who live in the northern Utah area know that that means snow, though it also means Christmas. Christmas is a time to lay back and watch the children play with all the new toys they got, and maybe even have your oldest kid try on a pink bunny suit if you really feel like it, or even go see Santa with the little ones because you're just that great... So sit back, relax and enjoy the Christmas spirit.

Hot Air Balloons
Every year for the 4th of July, Provo has a Freedom Festival. It lasts all weekend and has various fun things going on. They have a hot air balloon launch each morning. We were able to wake up on Monday, the last day. It was so cool! We got to walk around while they were inflating the balloons- that was my favorite part!! They went up in the air and then they had to throw bean bags to hit a target and they "jousted". It was a fun morning...even if it was at the crack of dawn!

Scout Camp
I know you all have wondered at some time or another what 12 and 13 year old boys do for a week at scout camp. Well, unless you have BEEN to scout camp. In that case, these may bring back fond memories, or not.
They look like a bunch of monkeys to me! And Cam wants everyone to notice his cool hair color. Thanks Granny!

Heather's Orchestra Tour
Better later than never I always say... Well, that applies to some things. Heather went on tour this spring and I am just now posting some of the pictures she brought back. She had a fabulous time!! They went on a bus and visited beautiful Seattle for sightseeing and workshops. She got home quite exhausted and happy.

Irish Dance Recital
Heather started Irish dance lessons in the Fall. She love, love, loves it! This past Friday was their recital to show what they have learned. Of course I didn't get a good picture of her dancing in her uber curly wig. As you can tell, she has a good time and has made some new friends. She is dressed as a boy for her drama dance. They are a little short on boys and she is the tallest in her particular class.

Snow Skiing
I tried skiing when I first came to Utah, about 3 lifetimes ago. Let's just say that it was a traumatic experience and leave it at that. Like most traumatic experiences, the pain has faded to a dim memory. I decided it was time to try again. I have a sweet friend that was willing to aid and abet me in this craziness. She takes her sons fairly regularly and I told her that I would like to go. So last Friday was the day. Spring skiing is much better that winter skiing; let me start with that fact. Alta ski resort has "Ski Free after 3", so off we went. I rented my super cool skis at BYU. I was told that they were cool by my friend's boys. I snapped on the skis and instantly felt a little out of control. I made it over to the little hill that had a tow rope. I did it! Then I fell. No blood, no foul! Then the lift opened. I got in line and waited my turn. Some of you know that I am just slightly (read incredibly) scared of heights. But I got on the lift and started up. That lift is kinda high off the ground, ya know?! But I sat back real tight and took a deep breath. It was amazingly beautiful up there. I even hopped off the lift with no incidents. My friend, who has been skiing for over 20 years, was very kind and went slow and waited for me all the way down the slope. And boy did I go slow! I was holding back her 5 year old and he wasn't very happy with me. There were 2 year olds passing me up. I did fall a couple or 3 times that first run, but the 2nd time (yes, I went again!) was faster and fall-free! I want to go again. So glad I didn't forever write this sport off. I will never be Lindsay Vonn, but I can enjoy it. Oh, and sorry, no pictures. Didn't want to ruin my camera if I fell on it. Some people were going down with babies in hiking backpacks...they obviously were above me in experience. Can't wait to go again.

SIAMSA Parade
SIAMSA stands for something about Scottish Irish... I never figured it out! Basically it was a St. Patrick's Day parade. Since Heather takes Irish dance lessons, makes sense that they would participate in this parade. It was an interesting day. First of all it is March and it is COLD! Who needs to start a parade at 10 in the morning? Especially in March, it isn't going to get too hot later in the day! At the start of the morning (we were supposed to be there at 8) it actually wasn't too bad. Could've been worse- it got worse. The clouds started moving in and the wind picked up. The girls were in dresses. Most had pants on under to keep warm and of course coats. The deal was that during the parade, no coats or pants. Well, as the RAIN started falling it was decided that they could wear coats until a certain point only if they had parents to take them before turning into the main parade part. Then it was, okay everyone can wear coats. Then it was decided that they would meet the parade before the main part- not even walk the first part. It ended up with everyone drenched, wearing coats and pants, and freezing anyway. But it sure was memorable and the kids seemed to have a good time in spite of the uncooperative weather. The purpose of this whole story is to explain why there are no actual parade pictures, just practicing.
This is Heather with some of the other kids in her class lol!! She got a later start obviously. But she is moving up fast!
